Student Safety: Please help us ensure student safety by not parking in the red zone on Paraiso near Iron Horse Trail. In order for cars to see children crossing the street, the red zone must remain clear. Thank you for always driving carefully and slowly in this area. Bid for Kids Auction: Save the date! March 27, 2010, at Round Hill Country Club in Alamo. Soul Shoppe: Provides interactive assembly programs that teach students important skills to support them both academically and emotionally. The skills focus on problem-solving, conflict resolution, creating a community of learning, and definition and internalization of the character traits that create great communities and citizens. All candy (even chocolate) is accepted. Please put in orange bin in front of school office. Lost and Found from Pack 809: Please check the lost and found (in the MPR for lost items. Each trimester, unclaimed items will be donated to charity. Holiday Kids Shoppe and Bake Shoppe: Dec. 5, 9:30am-12:30pm. This annual spirit event gives our children the opportunity to shop for inexpensive, high quality gifts for family and friends. Volunteer elves assist the children while parents relax with a hot drink and baked treats. To volunteer, contact Sherri Mullins or 552-0367. Library Help Needed: Help is needed in the school library from 8:35-10:20 am on Tuesdays through Fridays. Training is provided. Volunteers must be cleared through the office via the usual volunteer procedures. Contact: mhayes@srvusd.net with your time and date preference. Flu Facts: Flu symptoms are: Temperature (oral) of 100 degrees or higher, respiratory symptoms, sore throat. Flu is viral; every inidividual is affected differently. The school office staff will screen ill stuents and will send them home if they have a fever of 100 degrees or higher. Treatment is: rest, fluids, and fever-reducing medicines such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Please consider the following before sending your student to school: Use proper and frequent hand washing after sneezing, coughing, or using a Klenex. Keep your children home for 24 hours after all symptoms, including fever, have subsided. Your child needs to be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine. The contagion cycle will only be broken when students are kept home from school for the duraction of the illness. The Contra Costa Health Services has created an FAQ about the H1N1 virus. Click on the pdf file in the locker to the right. Volunteer Orientations: All volunteers are required to attend a 30 minute orientation prior to beginning their volunteer hours. See the Calendar above for dates and times of the first 2 orientations. Contact: Vicki in the office. Reading volunteers needed: We are seeking volunteers who love to read and to work with students. Healthy Kids Birthday Celebrations: In an effort to model healthy choices for our students, Baldwin will be celebrating student birthdays a little differently this year. Please do not send food treats for the class. Your teacher wil be giving you more information about birthday celebrations. Avoid a parking ticket: There is no parking on the east side of Brookside between Timberline and Brookside Ct. between 7:30-8:30 am and 2:00-3:30 pm. Cars parked in this area during these times will be ticketed. Box Tops 4 Education: Thanksgiving Promotion. Give Thanks to Your School by giving $1.00. Fee: $150. Winter 2009 Future Stars Program: Tri-Valley Soccer Club has designed this program for U7, U8, and U9 boys and girls who are interested in improving their skills. Winter Baseball Camp 2010: Dougherty Valley High School Varsity Coach Brian Freitas and his staff have put together this camp that will feature former MLB Professional Mike Meggers, college and high school baseball players.
