"Chores for Books": Our sister school, Cesar Chavez Elementary in Richmond, is in dire need of bi-lingual books. We would like to give the children of John Baldwin the opportunity to earm some money to help the children of Cesar Chavez develop a life-long love of reading, as our children have. The fundraising program will be scheduled over Spring Break, an ideal period for your child to do MANY chores, all for $1 each. Examples of chores are unloading the dishwasher, cleaning their room, delivering the newspaper to mom/dad,etc. The more chores your child does, the more books we can purchase for Cesar Chavez. Please note that this fundraiser is separate from student council's recent book drive donation. Dates for this fundraiser are 3/29-4/16. More information will come home with your child soon.

Lunch Process: In an attempt to speed up the process of your children buying lunch, we are asking that no cash be sent to school. If you need to add money to your student's lunch account, there are two ways this can be done:

  • Drop off a check before 9:30 a.m. (for same day posting) in the Baldwin office. Make the check out to SRVUSD.
  • Go online to www.srvusd.net and follow the Child Nutrition prompts to access your child's account. Use your ATM or credit card to add funds. (This will take 48 hours to post to your child's account.) You will need your child's student IS# (available by calling the Baldwin office).

Language and Auditory Processing Disorders: What is a language processing disorder?...An auditory processing disorder? What are the warning signs? What can you do to help your child manage a defecit in either of these areas? How do SRVUSD school-based programs incorporate strategies to assist students who have defecits in these areas? Join our expert speakers as they shed light on these often misunderstood processing disorders. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Iron Horse Middle School. To register: www.srvcouncilpta.org. For more information: specialneeds@srvcouncilpta.org.

IEP Goals and Paperwork Workshop: This in-depth workshop will help you understand IEP goals - why goals are written, how they are developed, and the role they play in the IEP. March 23, 2010, 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Dougherty Valley High School. This workshop is free. To register call 552-5073.
