Budget Cut day: Due to severe cuts from the state, there will be a budget cut day on Friday 9/3/10. All SRVUSD schools will be closed that day.
Cougar Ed Fund Meeting: All parents are invited to attend our first Cougar Education Fund meeting, which will be held on Thurs Sept 2 at 7:30pm in the Library. Please come and learn how you can help Cougar Education Fund support the many programs at our school.
Avoid a parking ticket: Please remember that the curb on the east side of Brookside between Timberline and Brookside Court is a "No Parking Zone" between the hours of 7:00-8:30am and 2:00-3:30 pm. Cars parking in this area during these times will be ticketed.
Volunteer Orientations: All volunteers are required to attend a 30-minute presentation before beginning their volunteer hours. If you haven't completed an orientation and would like to volunteer at our school, please contac the office to set up an appointment.
Safe Access to School: Please review the map in the 8/27/10 Cougar Weekly that gives detailed information regarding pick-up and drop-off. Your willingness to follow these guidelines assists us in providing the safest possible route to and from school for all our students.
Picture Day: Don't forget to comb your hair and smile! It's picture day on Thurs, Sept 2nd! Packets with all the information about school pictures will be sent home with your child on Wednesday, Sept. 1.
Summer Box Top Program:
For every 25-count collection sheet completed, your student will earn a $1 Book Buck to be used at the Fall or Spring Scholastic Book Fair. Skies the Limit and Summer Collection Sheets are on the John Baldwin website (home page, in the locker on the right side). Students in grades 3-5 may turn in their box tops in a ziplock baggie.

Kash for Kids Recycling Program:
Turn your trash into cash for Baldwin by recycling used printer cartridges and electronic items, including: PDAs, iPods, cell phones, video games, digital cameras, laptops, video game consoles, and DVD movies. Spanish for Kids: Spanish language classes lead by experienced teachers, for kids in grades 1-5. Students will learn vocabulary related to a variety of everyday themes, practice using it within sentences, and master many useful phrases. Program uses a full immersion approach, and students learn whilc singing songs, playing games, and doing hands-on projects. At Baldwin School, Sept 20-Nov 19. Cost is $395. Black Dragon Chess School: Introduce your child to the elegant, centuries-old game of Chess. Classes are at Baldwin school, Sept. 27, Oct. 4, 18, 25, Nov. 1, 8, 15, and 29, in the Library. Cost is $119. Contact: goags@comcast.net or 788-0814.
